UK Food Prices Set for Sustained Increases Through 2027

The UK's Food and Drink Federation (FDF) has revised its forecast for food price inflation, predicting that it will reach nearly 4% by the end of this year. This is a significant decrease from their earlier estimate of nearly 10%.

The FDF attributes the expected increases to ongoing global events such as the US-Iran war, European drought conditions, and the El Niño weather pattern. These factors have led to higher costs for energy, logistics, and packaging, which will drive food prices higher this year with sustained increases into 2027.

The FDF projects that food price inflation will peak at 6.4% in July 2027, a lower peak but longer plateau compared to their previous forecast.
