UK GDP Beats Forecasts Despite Slowing Growth

The UK's GDP growth figures for June and Q2 have been released, showing a 0.3% increase in June and 0.4% over the second quarter.

This is a stronger-than-expected set of numbers, which could have implications for the Bank of England's interest rate decisions.

According to Rabobank, the quarterly figures are a 'relatively healthy mix of growth' and leave the economy 'in a good place heading into Q3.'

The bank also notes that business investment was stronger in Q2, jumping 1.7%, and that consumer spending slowed only because it had been boosted by front-running in Q1.
