UK Hiring Surges for First Time Since 2022 Amid Business Optimism
According to a recent survey by the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC), UK firms have increased their hiring of full-time staff in August, marking the first time this has happened since September 2022. The REC's index tracking permanent staff appointments pointed to growth for the first time in four years.
The recruiters surveyed said that the rise in business optimism is due to a surge in new contracts and work taken on by companies. This optimistic outlook is being closely watched by Bank of England policymakers, who are keen to gauge the strength of the UK's labor market.
