UK Inflation Expectations Rebound with 3.9% Jump in Next 12 Months
Public inflation expectations in Britain have increased according to a recent survey from Citi and YouGov. The jump comes after recent months of declining expectations, with 3.9% being the predicted rate for the next 12 months, up from July's 3.4%. Additionally, long-term price growth expectations rose to 4.1%, their highest level since April, from 3.7%. Citi suggests that this could be a sign of rising inflation over the coming months.
The Bank of England is keeping a close eye on energy prices after the Iran war drove them up. However, Citi warns against over-interpreting these results and advises waiting for next month's release to gain better insight into the situation.
