UK Inflation Hits 2.9% Amid Iran War and Rising Energy Prices
UK inflation rose to 2.9% in July, up from 2.6% in June and the highest level since March, according to figures from the Office for National Statistics.
The increase is attributed to the ongoing impacts of the Middle East war, which has caused a sharp rise in gas prices, with experts predicting more energy bill misery ahead for the winter months.
Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester, pledged to do what he can to help Brits through 'really hard' times, saying 'people can be sure that what I can do to help people, I will do.'
The next quarterly cap for October to December is set to be announced on August 26, and experts are forecasting a further 4% rise in energy prices.
