UK Inflation Hits 2.9% on Rising Energy Costs
The UK's inflation rate has risen to 2.9% due to increasing energy costs, according to recent data.
This represents a 0.3% increase from June 2026 and is largely attributed to rising wholesale energy prices.
The Office for Gas and Electricity Markets (Ofgem) adjusted the energy price cap in July 2026 in response to these changes.
In the 12 months preceding July 2026, both the Consumer Prices Index (CPI) and the Consumer Prices Index including owner occupiers' housing costs (CPIH) rose by 2.9% and 3.1%, respectively.
