UK Inflation Hits Lowest Level in Over a Year as Fuel Prices Plummet
The UK's inflation rate has hit its lowest level in over a year, dropping to 2.6% in June from 2.8% in May. This decrease was largely driven by falling fuel prices, with average petrol costs down 2.1p per liter and diesel prices plummeting by 10.7p per liter.
Despite this temporary reprieve, experts warn that prices may rise again in the summer. The Office for National Statistics pointed to June's figures as a low point before inflation is expected to increase once more.
In Warrington, the cheapest petrol stations are currently Sainsbury's, Tesco Extra on Winwick Road, and Tesco Express Longford, all selling at 148.9p per liter. At the other end of the scale, Welcome Break at Burtonwood Services charges a whopping 177.9p per liter for petrol.
Diesel prices are also variable across Warrington, with Tesco Extra on Winwick Road offering the lowest price at 162.9p per liter and Welcome Break at Burtonwood Services charging the highest at 197.9p per liter.
