UK Labour Market Survey Set for November 2027 Upgrade

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) in the UK has announced plans to switch its flagship Labour Market Survey to a new, improved version called the Transformed Labour Force Survey (TLFS) by November 2027.

The current survey has faced problems with low response rates and accuracy issues, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Bank of England and private sector economists have criticized its reliability in providing a clear picture of the jobs market.

The ONS plans to publish a detailed transition plan for the new survey in early 2027. In July 2027, there will be an assessment to determine if the TLFS is ready to replace the current Labour Force Survey.
