UK Retail Sales Fall 0.5% in July as Market Forecasts Come True
Retail sales in the United Kingdom declined by 0.5% month-over-month (MoM) in July, in line with market expectations.
The latest data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) showed that retail sales had fallen after rising by 0.7% in June, which was revised from an initial 1.0% increase.
The Pound Sterling's value may be influenced by this data release, as a weak economy can lead to lower interest rates and a weaker currency.
