UK Stocks Tumble Amid Inflation Data and Middle East Uncertainty
U.K. stocks were mixed on Wednesday as investors grappled with inflation data and assessed geopolitical developments in the Middle East.
The FTSE 100 index declined by 2.56 points, or 0.02%, to 10,725.48 roughly half an hour past noon, trading within a narrow range between 10,700.28 and 10,747.71.
Bank stocks were particularly weak on expectations that the Bank of England will maintain interest rates despite data showing an acceleration in consumer price inflation during July.
