UK-US Regulators Team Up for Central Counterparty Resolution Exercise
Financial regulators in the UK and US are continuing their joint work on central counterparty resolution coordination. Senior officials from five key authorities, including the CFTC, SEC, FDIC, Federal Reserve Board, and Bank of England, met on September 3, 2026 for a tabletop exercise focused on information sharing, communications, and financial stability arrangements.
The session is part of ongoing senior-level meetings since 2017 to assess progress on joint UK-U.S. central counterparty resolution programs. Regulators are working together to enhance information-sharing and communications to bolster financial stability and policy coordination in the event of CCP resolution.
As reported by Commodity Futures Trading Commission, the tabletop exercise is an opportunity for senior officials to discuss issues related to the hypothetical resolution of central counterparties, or CCPs. The session will review recent joint work, particularly information-sharing and communications arrangements intended to support financial stability if a CCP enters resolution.
