Ukraine Currency Market Sees Dollar Buying Rate Rise Amid Euro Weakness
The Ukrainian currency market experienced fluctuations in key exchange rates on August 27. According to the Ministry of Finance, the average U.S. dollar rate rose by 1 kopeck on the buying side but dropped by 2 kopecks on the selling side. In contrast, the euro weakened by 5 kopecks for purchases and 3 kopecks for sales.
The cash market quotations showed that the hryvnia was trading at 44.41-44.86 against the dollar, while the euro was being bought at 51.68 UAH and sold at 52.33 UAH. At the currency auction, the dollar traded at 44.67-44.78 UAH, with euro quotations ranging from 51.95 to 52.15 UAH.
The interbank session opened with a rate of 44.57/44.60 UAH per dollar and 51.94/51.97 UAH per euro. The volatility in the foreign-exchange market may have implications for Ukraine's economic outlook, as exchange-rate dynamics influence both businesses and households by affecting the cost of imported goods and contributing to inflationary pressures.
