Ukraine's Exchange Rates Plummet as Dollar and Euro Fall
The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has set the official exchange rates for September 1, showing that both the US dollar and euro have begun the month with a decline in value. The US dollar fell by 3 kopecks to 44.52 UAH per dollar, while the euro depreciated by 25 kopecks to 51.63 UAH per euro.
This change comes as the foreign exchange market anticipates shifts in demand at the start of a new month. Taras Lesovyi, director of the Department of Financial Markets and Investment Activities at Globus Bank, suggests that news about Russian shelling, price changes, and the approaching heating season could influence buyer behavior.
Lesovyi warns that not only may the exchange rate fluctuate under these conditions but also the spread between buy and sell rates. He advises taking this into account when buying currency, suggesting it's often better to wait a few days rather than reacting impulsively to market changes.
