UniCredit Completes Second Synthetic Securitization Deal in Local Currency
UniCredit Bank S.A., part of UniCredit Group, has completed its second synthetic securitization deal. The transaction involved a portfolio of approximately RON 3.5 billion in SME and corporate loans originated by UniCredit Bank S.A.
The credit protection instrument was denominated in Romanian Lei (RON), making it the first synthetic securitization within the UniCredit Group involving a non-euro currency.
Stefano Chiarlone, Head of Balance Sheet Management at UniCredit, said the deal represents another step in the Group's capital efficiency strategy and reinforced its Significant Risk Transfer (SRT) framework in Eastern Europe.
The closing of this transaction enables UniCredit Bank S.A. to enhance its capital resilience by achieving risk-weighted asset relief, thus expanding its lending capacity to the real economy.
