UniCredit Stock Rises on ECB Approval of Danish Compromise
UniCredit's stock price has risen to near recent highs after receiving European Central Bank approval for the Danish Compromise, which will boost its core capital ratio by about 0.5 percentage points from third-quarter 2026 reporting.
The Italian bank currently owns an 8.7 percent stake in insurer Generali and expects the Danish Compromise to strengthen its Common Equity Tier 1 (CET1) ratio by approximately 52 basis points, based on its balance sheet position at the end of the second quarter of 2026.
J.P. Morgan analyst Delphine Lee maintains a Buy rating on UniCredit with a price target of 94.00 euros, while Morgan Stanley also has a Buy rating with a higher target of 105.00 euros.
However, GuruFocus suggests that UniCredit shares trade significantly above estimated intrinsic value, implying a substantial portion of the expected benefits from improved capital ratios may already be reflected in market pricing.
