The proposed Universal UK resort and theme park in Bedfordshire is expected to supercharge the economy of West Northamptonshire, according to Richard Clinton, chair of the Northamptonshire Local Visitor Economy Partnership (LVEP). The development, set to open in 2031, will generate £50bn for the UK economy and create 28,000 jobs.

Councillor Mark Arnull said that the project has 'the potential to create thousands of jobs, attract visitors from across the globe and provide lasting benefits for our local economy.' He added that it could be 'truly transformational' for the region.

Theme park fan Lawrence O'Shea believes there will be 'amazing opportunities' for businesses and young people as a result of the park's development. He warned, however, that the councils in Northamptonshire and Bedfordshire must ensure they maximise this opportunity 'from the start.'
