UOB: USD/JPY to Trade in Narrow Range with Upside Bias
The United Overseas Bank's (UOB) analysts Quek Ser Leang and Lee Sue Ann have provided an update on their view of the Japanese Yen against the US Dollar. According to them, USD/JPY closed little changed at 159.41 after briefly dipping to 158.58 and rebounding to 159.54.
They expect the pair to trade between 158.70 and 159.70 in the intraday session. Over a 1-3 week period, they maintain an upside-biased view, suggesting that any advance is part of a broader range rather than a fresh trend.
The analysts noted that their previous narrative from Tuesday (August 11), when USD traded at 159.20, highlighted that the bias for USD was tilted to the upside within a higher range of 157.00-160.20.
They continue to hold this view despite the relatively quiet market action over the past couple of days.
