The Japanese yen has strengthened following a coordinated intervention by Japan and the United States to halt its slide. The move came after weeks of pressure on the currency, with the yen trading near a 40-year low.

According to Japan's Finance Ministry, Tokyo and Washington conducted a joint yen-buying intervention, which was confirmed by U.S. President Donald Trump. 'They have a weakening yen, and they wanted a little bit of help. And we're always there for Japan,' Trump said.

The coordinated effort has provided temporary support to the currency, with the yen strengthening 0.5% to 156.47 per dollar. However, analysts caution that a sustained recovery will depend on changes in underlying economic fundamentals and monetary policy.
