US Consumer Inflation Expectations Hold Steady
According to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York's Survey of Consumer Expectations, US consumers' median one-year inflation expectations remained steady at 3.6% in August 2026.
This figure is based on a survey that showed notable increases in specific categories, with expected price growth for gas rising by 1.7 percentage points to 4.6%, and food expectations increasing by 0.3 percentage point to 5.3%
Other areas saw similar increases, including medical-care price expectations climbing 0.2 percentage point to 9.1% and college education costs rising 0.3 percentage point to 6.1%
