US Corrects Statements on Chinese Hacking Group Targets Government Agencies

The US Department of Justice has revised its statements on a Chinese hacking group targeting government agencies. Initial reports claimed that several agencies were successfully hacked, but corrections now indicate they were only targeted.

The targeted agencies include NASA, the Federal Reserve, and the Senate, among others. A footnote in an affidavit from the FBI notes that NASA's patching of targeted software prevented a breach.

The hacking group, identified as QTFY, has been accused of a years-long cyber-espionage campaign against US government agencies and defence contractors.
