Financial markets are bracing for the latest US inflation data release on Wednesday, which could provide key clues to the Federal Reserve's interest rate path.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics is set to publish the July Consumer Price Index (CPI) at 8:30 a.m. ET, with economists expecting a modest increase in prices.

Headline inflation is forecast to rise 0.1% month-on-month, while core inflation, which excludes volatile food and energy prices, is projected to increase 0.2%.

On an annual basis, headline inflation is expected to ease to 3.4% from 3.5% in June, while core inflation is expected to slow to 2.5% from 2.6%. Despite remaining above the Fed's 2% target, another month of subdued price growth could strengthen the case for policymakers to keep interest rates unchanged.

Investors are weighing signs of moderating inflation against lingering concerns over price pressures, with market expectations becoming more fluid since the July Federal Reserve meeting.
