US CPI Data to Provide Clues on Fed Rate Path
The US Consumer Price Index (CPI) data for July is set to be released on Wednesday, and investors are eagerly awaiting the figures in hopes of gaining clarity on the Federal Reserve's interest rate path.
Economists surveyed by Dow Jones expect headline inflation to rise 0.1% month-over-month, while core inflation, which excludes food and energy prices, is projected to increase 0.2%.
The July CPI report will be closely scrutinized for signs that price pressures continue to ease, with some analysts believing the data will likely show a modest increase in prices.
Vanguard economist Adam Schickling said inflation has been 'stickier and persistent,' but is trending in the right direction, moving gradually closer toward the Fed's 2% target.
