US Disrupts China-Linked Hacking Operation Targeting NASA and Federal Reserve
The US Justice Department has announced that it has disrupted a Chinese hacking operation that targeted several sensitive government agencies, including NASA and the Federal Reserve.
The campaign, which began in 2018, used two hacking platforms called QScan and QTRouter to compromise critical infrastructure and other sensitive networks worldwide.
The affidavit identifies the hackers' victims as including the US Department of Energy, the National Institutes of Health, an unnamed HHS agency, and four unnamed companies in the US and South Korea.
Dakota Cary, a China analyst with cybersecurity company SentinelOne, said that private contractors often carry out high-profile intrusions on behalf of various Chinese government agencies.
