US Disrupts Chinese Hacking Operation Targeting Government Agencies, Financial Institutions
U.S. officials have disrupted a Chinese hacking operation that targeted sensitive government agencies, including the Department of Justice and NASA, as well as financial institutions like the Federal Reserve.
The Justice Department announced it has seized internet domains used by two hacking platforms, dubbed 'QScan' and 'QTRouter,' which were employed in the penetration campaign by a state-sponsored group known as 'QTFY.'
Court documents alleged that QTFY's hackers created and operated the two platforms to burrow into U.S. target networks and cover their tracks.
The victims of QTFY's cyber break-ins include the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, Federal Reserve, Department of Energy, Department of Justice, Department of Health and Human Services, National Institutes of Health, and the U.S. Senate.
