US Disrupts Chinese Hacking Operation Targeting Sensitive Government Agencies

The US government has announced that it has disrupted a Chinese hacking operation that targeted several high-profile organizations, including the Justice Department, NASA, and the Federal Reserve. The operation used two hacking platforms, QScan and QTRouter, which were run by a China-based firm called Nanjing Xinjiuwei Network Technology Company.

The platforms were allegedly used to break into sensitive networks in the US and worldwide since at least 2018, with victims including the US Department of Energy, the Department of Health and Human Services, and the National Institutes of Health. The affidavit also named four unnamed companies in the US and South Korea as being among the hackers' targets.

The Chinese Embassy in Washington did not immediately return a message seeking comment on the allegations. Beijing has routinely denied responsibility for hacking activity.
