US Disrupts Chinese Hacking Operation Targeting Sensitive Networks
The US government has announced that it disrupted a Chinese hacking operation responsible for breaching sensitive networks. The hackers targeted the Justice Department, NASA, the Federal Reserve, the Senate, and other government agencies.
The US authorities said they seized domains used by two hacking platforms, QScan and QTRouter, which were run by a China-based firm called Nanjing Xinjiuwei Network Technology Company. This company has ties to China's civilian intelligence agency and its military, the People's Liberation Army.
According to the affidavit, the hackers used tools they developed since at least 2018 to compromise critical infrastructure and sensitive networks worldwide. They made several unsuccessful attempts to access NASA networks in August 2019 and also targeted a US hospital and the Senate in March 2026.
