US Dollar Declines for Second Month Straight Amid Base Metal Rally
The US dollar posted its second consecutive monthly decline, falling 0.26% to 99.42 overnight.
This comes as base metals in the domestic market mostly rose, with SHFE zinc climbing 2.23%, and SHFE tin adding 0.75%. However, SHFE silver dropped 2.74%, and coking coal and coke fell by 1.39% and 1.59% respectively.
The LME was closed on August 31 for the UK Summer Bank Holiday and resumed trading on September 1. Meanwhile, in precious metals, COMEX gold and silver both dropped overnight, with COMEX gold falling 0.72%, and COMEX silver dropping 0.86%.
