US Dollar Index Speculators Maintain Grip on Market
Large currency speculators in the US dollar futures have maintained their grip on the market for over three years, according to recent Commitment of Traders (COT) data from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). The non-commercial futures contracts of US dollar index futures held by these large speculators and hedge funds totaled a net long position of 21409 contracts as of August 11, 2026. This represents a slight decrease of 1090 net positions compared to the previous week.
The CFTC data suggests that despite this marginal reduction, large currency speculators continue to hold a significant amount of the US dollar index futures market. The current net long position is one of the highest in recent history, indicating a strong sentiment towards the US dollar among these investors.
