US Dollar Indexes Higher as Traders Await US Consumer Inflation Figures
The USD/JPY pair has struggled to make gains during the Asian session on Friday, trading below the mid-154.00s after a previous day's recovery momentum.
This comes as traders await the release of US consumer inflation figures, which will provide cues about the US Federal Reserve's future policy path and drive the US Dollar.
The US Producer Price Index (PPI) accelerated to 5.4% YoY in August, beating consensus estimates, and prompting traders to add bets for a Federal Reserve rate hike next week.
In Japan, producer inflation grew 7.6% YoY in August, with underlying inflation approaching 2%, giving the central bank more impetus to hike interest rates.
