US Dollar Surges to 157,000 Dinar Mark in Iraq
The US dollar has continued its upward trend in both Baghdad and Erbil, Iraq, as parallel market exchange rates show significant gains. In Baghdad, wholesale trading at Al-Kifah and Al-Harithiya saw the dollar climb to 156,350 dinars per $100, up from 156,000 dinars recorded on Thursday.
This increase has also affected retail currency shops in local markets, with selling rates reaching 156,750 dinars per $100 against a buying rate of 155,750 dinars. In Erbil, the northern commercial hub mirrored this upward pace, with currency bourses quoting retail selling rates at 156,350 dinars for every $100.
The widening gap between the official rate set by the Central Bank of Iraq and the parallel market exchange rates suggests that demand for dollars remains strong in both cities. As a result, traders are taking advantage of the upward pressure to buy more US dollars.
