US Dollar's Decline Halted by Strong Job Market Data
The U.S. dollar's decline was limited by robust job market data released on Friday, which showed an unexpected addition to non-farm payrolls.
According to the data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, there were 162 thousand additions in August, far exceeding the upwardly revised level of 21 thousand in July and surpassing market expectations of 56 thousand.
This development boosted rate hike bets, which had suffered following comments from Fed Governor Christopher Waller about giving disinflation a chance.
