US Inflation Data Paints Mixed Picture as Durable Goods Orders Soar
The latest US inflation data has revealed a mixed bag of results, with some indicators showing a slowdown and others beating expectations.
In July, consumer prices rose by 0.2% month-over-month and 2.5% year-over-year, largely in line with predictions.
However, durable goods orders for the same period surged 1.1% to $339.3 billion, significantly outperforming analyst estimates.
New transportation equipment orders drove much of this increase, climbing 2.3% in July.
In contrast, retail and food services sales dipped by 0.6% month-over-month but still registered a 5.0% year-over-year gain.
