US Inflation Rate Slows to 3.4% as Prices Continue to Rise

The US inflation rate for July 2026 has slowed to 3.4%, according to the latest Consumer Price Index data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

This marks a slight decrease from June's 3.5% inflation rate, but consumer prices are still rising.

The Consumer Price Index tracks the cost of a broad range of goods and services, including housing, food, transportation, medical care, clothing, and energy.

While inflation has slowed slightly, Americans may not see an immediate decrease in everyday expenses. The price of a product that increased by 3.4% over the past year does not automatically return to its previous value if inflation slows.
