US-Japan Yen Support Injects Unprecedented Liquidity
Financial markets are seeing unprecedented liquidity due to recent support for the yen by the U.S. and Japan, according to Lawrence Lepard.
Lepard notes that the financing approach is unusual, adding liquidity in a way not seen before.
The central bank activities of Bessent and Warsh have also been brought up, with Lepard suggesting that Bessent has resumed monetary expansion while Warsh lags behind in reducing the central bank's balance sheet.
Lepard previously pointed out a $50 billion increase in Fed swap lines likely linked to Japan and raised issues regarding the size and reporting requirements for these lines.
