US Job Market Rebounds with Falling Weekly Claims
The US job market continues to show signs of strength as initial claims for state unemployment benefits decreased by 1,000 to a seasonally adjusted 206,000 for the week ending September 5.
This marks the continuation of a labor market that has been regaining its footing after experiencing a slowdown in spring and summer.
The Labor Department reported that nonfarm payrolls jumped by 162,000 jobs in August, the largest gain in five months, following a rise of 21,000 in July.
Despite this improvement, long-term unemployment remains a concern, with the median duration of joblessness near 4-1/2-year highs in August.
