US Job Market Shows Strong Growth in August
The US job market showed strong growth in August, exceeding expectations and providing a boost to President Donald Trump's Republican Party ahead of the midterm elections.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that employment increased by 162,000 jobs in August, with the unemployment rate remaining steady at 4.1 percent.
The job gains were driven by growth in the restaurant and bar sectors, as well as a bounce back in public schools. The sector added 59,000 jobs, while public education saw an increase of 42,000 positions.
The strong report also revised up job numbers for June and July, indicating that the US labor market remains in steady growth. However, stock markets were down on the news, with all eyes on the Federal Reserve's next interest rate-setting meeting later this month.
