US Jobless Claims Plummet to 203K
US Initial Jobless Claims dropped significantly last week, falling to 203K for the week ending August 22. This number is lower than initial estimates of 208K and also marks a decrease from the previous week's revised figure of 207K.
The four-week moving average increased by 1.250K to 205.5K, according to the report from the US Department of Labour (DOL). Additionally, Continuing Jobless Claims dropped by 18K to 1.778M for the week ending August 15.
The Greenback traded with modest gains on Thursday, as the US Dollar Index (DXY) hovered between 99.20 and 99.30 in response to the data. The report also indicated that decent bounce in US Treasury yields across the curve contributed to the dollar's performance.
