US Jobs Data Boosts Dollar, Weighs on New Zealand Kiwi
The New Zealand Dollar (NZD) has weakened against the US Dollar (USD), as the greenback gains momentum following strong jobs data from the United States. The NZD/USD pair traded lower, at around 0.6090, down from the previous close of 0.6125.
The US Dollar Index rose after investors digested the latest jobs report, which showed resilience in the US labor market. This has reinforced expectations of a more gradual Federal Reserve rate-cutting cycle, making the dollar more attractive to yield-seeking investors.
The Reserve Bank of New Zealand (RBNZ) has already begun easing policy with two rate cuts this year, creating a policy gap between the RBNZ and the Fed. This divergence in monetary policy expectations is weighing on the New Zealand Dollar, keeping it under pressure.
