US Labor Market Adds 162,000 Jobs in August
The US labor market added 162,000 nonfarm payroll jobs in August, while the unemployment rate remained at 4.1 percent.
The manufacturing sector continued its upward trend with 16,000 new jobs, bringing the total to 58,000 since a low in December 2025.
Machinery and fabricated metal product manufacturing both added 6,000 jobs each, while construction employment changed little at 22,000 jobs.
