US Labor Market Stabilizes Amid Moderate Growth

The upcoming US employment report for July is expected to show little change in labor market conditions. According to forecasts, nonfarm payroll growth will average around 95K, similar to the first half of the year. This moderate pace has been accompanied by slower labor supply growth, helping to keep the labor market balanced.

However, not all indicators are pointing towards a positive outcome. Job postings in July have hovered below last year's levels, and ADP's measure of weekly private-sector payroll growth has slowed since the spring.

The unemployment rate is expected to hold steady at 4.2% in July, but there is potential for a rebound in the labor force participation rate, which could create upside risk for the unemployment rate.
