US Labor Market Under Scrutiny as July NFP Report Looms

Market attention is shifting towards macroeconomic data as corporate earnings reports are largely behind us. The US July Nonfarm Payrolls (NFP) report will be at the center of focus, with a comprehensive analysis of the labor market's resilience and its implications for the Federal Reserve's policy path.

The NFP release is expected to show an increase in nonfarm payrolls by around 91,000 in July, up from 57,000 in June. However, this number alone may not be particularly strong, and it's the key components of the report that will provide a clearer picture of the labor market's health.

The unemployment rate is forecast to edge higher from 4.2% to 4.3%, while average hourly earnings growth is expected to moderate. The labor-force participation rate and revisions to previous data will also be closely watched.
