The US markets are preparing for a key week of events, with inflation data and Apple's annual presentation taking center stage. The Labor Day-shortened trading week will also see speeches by technology company executives at investor conferences.

On September 10, the producer price index is due to be released, followed by the consumer price index on September 11. According to FactSet, the headline producer price index in August is expected to rise by 0.4% month on month and 5.4% year on year.

Federal Reserve Board Governor Christopher Waller said that his stance on monetary policy would largely depend on the August inflation data. He noted that further movement toward the 2% inflation target could incline him to support keeping the rate unchanged, while higher figures could provide grounds to consider raising it.
