US Postpones Tariff as Canada-U.S. Trade Talks Continue
Canada and the US have been in intense discussions to resolve trade issues. Prime Minister Carney says substantial progress has been made, but there's still work to be done. The US had planned to implement a 50% tariff on certain Canadian goods under Section 338 of the U.S. Tariff Act of 1930, but has agreed to postpone it until August 21.
The postponement will give both countries more time to negotiate and address outstanding trade issues. Canada remains committed to building a stronger economy at home, with a focus on independence and competitiveness.
