US Stock Futures Inch Higher Amid Inflation Fears and Geopolitical Tensions
US stock futures rose slightly on Thursday as investors prepared for the release of August wholesale inflation data and awaited the European Central Bank's (ECB) anticipated interest rate hike amid rising oil prices and geopolitical tensions.
The Dow futures showed early gains following a three-day decline in major averages, where the Dow dropped over 400 points and the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite also fell. Treasury yields rose, with the 10-year note yield reaching its highest level since November 2023.
Rising oil prices due to escalating US-Iran tensions pushed Brent crude above $101 per barrel, marking the highest settlement since May. This increase added pressure on markets as traders focused on economic data and central bank decisions.
