US Stocks Rebound as Oil Prices Ease, Inflation Data Meets Expectations
US stocks staged a rebound on September 11, 2026, as oil prices eased and inflation data came in line with expectations. The S&P 500 rose by 1% to break its four-day losing streak, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average surged 479 points or 0.9%. The Nasdaq composite increased by 1.2%
The pullback in oil prices, which had reached a six-month high due to the ongoing conflict with Iran, helped alleviate concerns about inflation. Brent crude's price fell 2.5% to $104.93 after reaching near $110 overnight.
An update on US consumer prices showed a 3.4% increase in costs for living expenses last month compared to the same period in 2025. While still high, this was close to economists' predictions and what Wall Street had anticipated.
The rising expectations of an interest rate hike by the Federal Reserve next week sent the yield on two-year Treasury bonds to 4.60% from 4.56%. However, longer-term yields eased as investors in the bond market see upcoming hikes helping to control inflation over time.
