US Struggles with Inflation, Global Trade Tensions Rise

The OMFIF advisory council has expressed concern over the US's inability to meet its inflation target. In a move related to global trade, the Strait of Hormuz will see changes in how vessels are allowed to pass through it. The new agreement bars US and Israeli vessels from transiting through the strait until damage caused by them is compensated for.

The draft bill outlining these changes remains under expert review and has requested recommendations before its completion. The council's worry about the US inflation target comes as wages in America are increasing, but at different rates depending on the worker's position. The earnings growth for Main Street workers at the 25th percentile was 5.5% year over year, significantly higher than that of workers at the 75th percentile.

The Strait of Hormuz agreement and US inflation concerns have sparked interest in global trade and economic policies.
