US Treasury Buys Japanese Yen Amid Currency's Historic Low
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said that the US and Japan coordinated foreign exchange actions to counter disorderly yen movements on Friday, with the US buying Japanese yen.
The move comes as the Japanese currency dropped to a 40-year low against the dollar, prompting President Donald Trump to say it was 'a signal of friendship' between the two nations.
'They have a weakening yen, and they wanted a little bit of help. And we're always there for Japan,' Trump said on Sunday during a press conference aboard Air Force One.
