US Treasury Yield Hits 19-Year High Amid Inflation Concerns
The 30-year US Treasury yield has hit its highest level in nearly two decades. On Monday, it climbed above 5.3%, a peak not seen since June 2007, as investors assessed mounting inflation and fiscal risks.
The long-term yield rose to an all-time high of 5.31% during the session. Meanwhile, the benchmark 10-year Treasury yield jumped to around 4.73%, up from 4.70% at the end of last week.
The increase in long-dated government debt yields came as rising oil prices fueled concerns about sustained inflation and limited the Federal Reserve's ability to ease monetary policy. Brent crude surged above $90 per barrel amid renewed tensions between the US and Iran and continued uncertainty surrounding shipments through the Strait of Hormuz.
