US Yield Curve Braces for Turbulence Amid Fed Uncertainty and Heavy Supply

US bond investors are bracing for a potentially volatile period as a combination of Federal Reserve uncertainty, heavy Treasury supply, and key economic data releases threatens to shake up the yield curve.

The 30-year Treasury yield has remained above 5% for over two months now, with the longest stretch at these levels since 2006. The current rates are: 10-year Treasury yield at around 4.78%, 2-year near 4.37%, and 30-year parked at roughly 5.24%.

The Fed's shift under Chair Kevin Warsh towards a data-dependent posture with less forward guidance has contributed to implied volatility on short-dated rate options rising.
