USD/CAD Surges as Federal Reserve Hikes Rate Expectations

The Canadian dollar has been under pressure in recent trading sessions, with the USD/CAD currency pair recording four consecutive bullish sessions and accumulating gains of over 1.00% in favor of the U.S. dollar.

This strength can be attributed to growing expectations that the Federal Reserve could adopt a more aggressive stance, which has increased demand for U.S. dollars and weighed on the Canadian dollar.

The probability of the Federal Reserve increasing interest rates from 3.75% to 4.00% has risen above 90%, with the inflation data release last week showing annual inflation holding at 3.4%, well above the Fed's 2.0% target.

Mark Carney, Canada's Prime Minister, has been trying to attract foreign investment by presenting Canada as a stable and predictable alternative compared to the U.S., but the trade dispute between the two countries remains unresolved.
